Hello World!!

Cace Patrick Malone made his debut into the world on Tuesday, May 17th, 2011 at 3:04 pm.  He was 19.5 inches long and weighed 6 lbs 14 oz.

Due to the gestational diabetes, Dr. Hicks didn't want me to go beyond 39 weeks.  When we went to my appointment on the 16th, he told us to come to the hospital that night at midnight to be induced.  After a long night of getting poked and prodded, they began the pitocin around 6:45 that morning.  Dr. Hicks came to break my water about an hour later and we were on our way to having a baby!!

At the nurse shift change at 2:00, the new nurse checked me and I was 9.5 cm dilated.  She got the room ready and called Dr. Hicks.  We began pushing around 2:30 or so, then had to wait for Dr. Hicks to get there, and Cace entered the world a little after 3:00.

My mom (T-Ma) and Michael's mom (MoMo) were waiting outside and once they were able to come in, T-Ma attacked with the camera!!  She got lots of great pictures to capture the moment and how stinking adorable he is!!

We are so excited for him to be here and just can't get enough of him!!  He has been so good so far.  He sleeps a lot and eats really well.  We went to his first doctor's appointment on Tuesday, the 24th and he had already grown a .5 inch and weighed 7 lbs 3 oz.

I also can't say enough about all of our family and friends and all of the support they have given us and Cace during the pregnancy and since he was born.  Cace has so many people who love him!!

Tomball baby shower

My first baby shower was April 2, 2011 at the home of Peggy Stasky in Tomball.  Everything turned out great... the decorations were adorable, the food was delicious, good company, lots of gifts and babies everywhere you looked!!

We'll start with the decorations, which were rustic cowboy.  Pictured below: favors with candy, boot decoration, the sign in book I made, and my corsage!

A lot of friends with new babies were able to come to the shower and I was so glad to be able to see them because most of them I had not met before.  It definitely made things more interesting to have so many babies around!!

It was great to see family and friends I hadn't seen for a while.. .including an old friend that almost become new!! Pictured below: Tate family group shot, me and Ana (or is it Stephanie?)

Thanks to everyone for all of the wonderful gifts!!  We are on our way to being ready for this little guy to be here.  Pictured below (clockwise): Diaper cake from Jessica, football monogrammed blanket from Dean, sunglasses from Uncle Matt, homemade fishing shirt from my Mom (a.k.a. T-Ma), Carrie helping me with writing down all of the gifts (Thanks again Carrie!!), monogrammed Cace onesie from MeMe, baby book from Nancy, cowboy shirt from Becky (name TBD - frontrunners are MoMo and Baba)

Thanks to all of the hostesses for putting together such a great shower!  Pictures below: Becky Malone (I know she doesn't want to be listed as a hostess, but she did a lot for the shower), Susan Baker, Sarah Glass, Me, Carol Bartek, Peggy Stasky.

Pictures

I know I'm a nerd (and a little bit silly) for doing this, but I took some maternity pictures of myself today.  Here's some that turned out half way decent.

I need to get with my mom this next weekend and get the pictures that she took at the shower last weekend.  Hopefully that will be my next post!

Update

Lots of stuff going on....

First up, I got diagnosed with gestational diabetes a few weeks ago.  I'm supposed to be going to a class at the hospital to tell me what I should or shouldn't eat and how to test my glucose levels.  I'm still waiting on the stinking hospital to call me.  So, at this this rate, Cace will be here before I figure out what I'm supposed to be doing!!  I wasn't too far off of normal on my glucose tests, so I should be able to manage with just my diet.  Since I can't test my glucose levels, I've just been eating super healthy and trying to watch my carbs and staying away from sweets and my precious sweet tea I was allowing myself to have occasionally :(

So, because of the gestational diabetes, I wanted another ultrasound in order to see how big he is getting in there.  He was a little over 4 pounds, which was consistent with his size at our last ultrasound at around 19-20 weeks... which means that our due date has now been moved up to May 23rd or so (which also seems more right to me based on when I know he was conceived and our original due date based on my cycle) and that he's doing great!!

I got to see his cute little face today, and he definitely has Michael's cute chubby cheeks.  He also had a little bit of hair on the back of his head already.  So, sorry Michael, no bald baby for you.  The tech also mentioned that his legs were long, so hopefully he's not short like his Mom!!

So, there's still lots to do before he gets here and now less time to do it!!  We've been working hard to fix up Michael's grandma's house for us to live in.  We've hired someone this week to get the bathroom and painting done, so that we can move on to carpet, etc. and getting moved in there.  So, hopefully it won't be too much longer before I can start setting up Cace's room.  I can't wait to see my vision of his room come together!!

Next up...baby showers!!!  I've got one this weekend, one at work next Wednesday, and another on April 16th!!  So excited to see everyone and show off my baby bump!!

Thanks Mom!!

Thank you Mom for doing such an amazing job on the bedding!!  She busted out the crib bumper pads and most of the bedskirt in the last couple of days and so far it is looking great!!

You now have permission to move on to your other fun projects!!

Fabric

Last weekend my mom and I went on a search for fabric to go with our vintage cowboy fabric we had ordered online.  We drove up to Dripping Springs and tried out Cowgirls & Lace with no luck.  We then went over to Valli & Kim (www.valliandkim.com) and fell in love.  They had so much cute fabric and if we were having a girl I would have had a very hard time picking from all of the girly fabrics!!

We ended up just getting some solid fabrics that matched our vintage cowboy fabric and some cow print!!  I love the cow print and can't wait to use it for some accessories!!

Here's some pics of Mom's belly at 26 weeks!!  Definitely starting to look and feel pregnant!!
